Nothing is very serious for long at Alnwick Castle and Peterkin the Jester will be have you thoroughly entertained from Wednesday to Friday next week.

There’s hubble, bubble and lots of trouble with Alchemy Jack and lookalike characters inspired by Harry Potter.

Zooted will be returning to wow the crowds with their unique mix of fire-eating, sword-juggling, comedy and trickery from April 11, and mystical birds of prey from April 7 to 10, with plenty of other activities to boot.

Trains will be running on Saturday, Easter Sunday and Monday.

On Easter Sunday and Monday there will be the now traditional Easter Bunny Hunt for children, with all participants receiving a chocolate bunny.

Throughout the weekend trains will be hauled by a steam locomotive. Long-term resident RICHBORO will be hauling the carriages along the recently extended line.

The ‘new’ locomotive without a name, but known as ‘Number 60’, arrived at the railway on Monday. It will be tested on the Aln Valley’s rails and if everything proves satisfactory it may make its debut on passenger trains.

If not, it will be in ‘light steam’ so that it can be photographed moving up and down in the sidings or possibly platform 2.

The site opens at 10.30am, with trains running from 11am to 4pm.
