Nine people have earned the necessary qualifications to start looking for jobs in the fishing industry after completing a course in Amble.
The Introduction to Commercial Fishing course received funding from Seafish Authority and the Marine Management Organisation.
The free course, which would normally have cost participants £500, gave candidates the chance to receive the mandatory certificates required to go to sea as a fisherman, such as sea survival, fire-fighting, first aid and health and safety.
Attendees came from all over the North East for the course, run by Anglo-Scottish Seafish & Seafood Training Association.
Another course starts in Amble on March 6, lasting for three weeks. To book, call 01665 713823 or 07702 042551.
