The Duchess of Northumberland and author Jane Dismore will be at The Alnwick Garden on Saturday to chat with visitors and sign copies of their books.
The three works by Her Grace are Jams, Jellies and Preserves; Poisons, Potions and Aphrodisiacs; and the new Little Book of Cocktails, Cordials and Elixirs.
Jane Dismore’s book is entitled Duchesses: Living in the 21st Century, which takes a look at how Kate Middleton has made the old title of duchess fresh and even desirable again.
Within the book, 10 of Britain’s remaining non-royal duchesses, including The Duchess of Northumberland, speak of their lives and roles today when privilege is not a popular concept.
Each duchess also chooses a favourite predecessor in the role which provides a fascinating gallery from the 17th to the early 20th century.
The book comes with a free, downloadable app which reveals some of the duchesses speaking in their homes and provides information on the ducal families.
The book signing will take place in The Garden’s Gift Shop from 4.30pm.
