A NORTH Northumberland teenager is ‘over the moon’ after another successful appearance at Crufts.

Megan Young, from Milfield, defending her title in the Young Kennel Club (YKC) Agility Dog of the Year, finished as runner-up, missing out on the victory by two hundredths of a second with her collie Shadow.

The 17-year-old, a pupil at the Duchess’s Community High School in Alnwick, also finished third in the YKC Medium Agility with her crossbreed terrier Tyler – a rescue dog who came from the Dogs Trust.

“Crufts was amazing,” Megan said.

“I was really nervous in running Tyler because it was her first time.

“I wasn’t sure how she was going to handle the atmosphere, but she did everything I asked, I couldn’t have asked any more of her.

“Shadow did really well too, I couldn’t have asked any more of her either.”

This year was Megan’s third appearance at Crufts and followed her victory in Agility Dog of the Year last year.

“I did want to win it, but I’m over the moon with second because it’s such a big thing,” she said.

Megan also runs classes in agility, Kennel Club Good Citizen awards and puppy training in Wooler.
