Double bill of tragedy and comedy on stage

The classic horror tale, The Monkey’s Paw, adapted for stage by Pru Heathcote from WW Jacobs’ 1902 short story and David Tristram’s hilarious Last Panto in Little Grimley will be performed at the Memorial Hall on September 8, 9 and 10.

The evening’s opener shows what happens when a monkey’s paw with supposed magical powers comes into George White’s possession. The drama has shocking and scary moments, with underlying messages about greed, revenge, love and loss.

Second play of the night is a complete contrast. Last Panto In Little Grimley features an inept and failing amateur dramatic group. Harassed director Gordon, would-be Meryl Streep diva Margaret, grumpy set builder Bernard and hare-brained treasurer and secretary Joyce have already appeared on the Warkworth stage some years ago in Last Tango In Little Grimley. In this follow-up, Gordon has written a panto script that he hopes will draw in the punters, but his fellow thespians are thwarting him at every turn. As opening night approaches, what could possibly go wrong?
