As well as supplying blood to the Great North Air Ambulance Service 365 days a year, the service we offer is totally free to the NHS, with us working 12-hour night shifts seven days a week, plus all day Saturday and Sunday and all bank holidays.

No one in our charity gets paid in any way for their time.

We are totally funded by public donations, which leads me to say a huge thank you to Horace Silverman and the White Gardenias who invited me along to the Hindmarsh Hall in Alnmouth on Saturday, November 26, after hearing a talk given to Alnmouth WI back in the summer.

The band was kind enough to donate £200 to the charity, and on hearing what we did, the audience had a further collection, almost doubling the total.

I would like to express a huge thank-you to all who were there for a purely enjoyable evening.

Brian Slassor,
