CHILDREN’S services at the county council have been rated as exceeding the minimum requirements by Ofsted.
The Ofsted report rates services from one to four. The council was awarded a three, meaning it ‘performs well’ for 2010.
However there were key areas for development in the report which are to improve educational outcomes for children with special educational needs and those from low income families and to improve overall results at age 11.
Coun Lesley Rickerby, executive member for children and young people, said: “If they gave us the money we are entitled to, we could do an even better job. Give us the money we deserve.”
