A north Northumberland development trust has been given a £10,000 growth award through a bank’s social-enterprise scheme.
On Tuesday, Santander announced that five social enterprises from the North East had won cash awards totalling £40,000 in the bank’s Social Enterprise Development Awards (SEDA).
And a quarter of that amount was allocated to Seahouses Development Trust.
The awards are given to social enterprises and trading charities looking to grow their business and improve their local community.
Alongside the prize money, the winning social enterprises receive a business support package from Santander which includes business webinars, full-funded internships, consultancy days and the opportunity to network with other social entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Clive Naylor, Santander regional director, said: “Congratulations to this year’s SEDA winners from the North East. There are some truly outstanding enterprises and charities from across the region. We hope that the funding and support programme will help them reach their potential and increase their social impact.”
Established in 1996, Seahouses Development Trust owns and manages, among others, the Sports and Community Centre, which recently started hosting the library due to the original building having to be shuttered.
