Concerned Warkworth Parish Council chairman Jeff Watson is writing to the Secretary of State to plead refusal of a controversial housing scheme in the village, on the grounds of overdevelopment.
It relates to an application by Northumberland Estates for around 50 homes at Guilden Road, which was approved by the county council’s strategic planning committee last week.
However, there may be a reprieve, as the bid could be still be refused by the department of the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
Recently, the Secretary of State decided not to call in approved bids for six homes at Hermitage Drive and nine on Watershaugh Road, meaning permission still stands.
Last year, a plan for 37 homes on Morwick Road was granted on appeal.
