A public meeting is to take place later this month to talk about the parking problems on an Alnwick street, which have been getting worse.
Residents have continued to complain about the situation in the area of Alwynside and Kinloss Court, which was taken up by county councillors Gordon Castle and Heather Cairns last year.
However, their efforts to improve the situation have not been successful and now a public meeting is to be held in the hope that a possible solution can be reached by consensus.
In a letter to residents in the area, the pair said: ‘You may recall that last summer we wrote about the growing problem of cars parking on the roads around Alwynside, near Kinloss Court, and we recommended use of the substantial car park outside Kinloss Court.
‘We hoped to avoid further escalation of the situation, which then involved local police concerning possible offences of obstruction, but we did undertake to review matters and look at further measures if problems continued.
‘Regrettably, so far as can be observed, the car park suggestion has not been taken up, and residents advise us that, if anything, matters are getting steadily worse, with car ownership growing and inappropriate parking widespread.’
The meeting, which will be chaired by Couns Castle and Cairns, will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, June 24, in Alnwick North Community Centre.
