Recruits are needed to help decorate a house for a tot with a rare medical condition, as part of a DIY SOS-themed campaign.
The Gazette and Alnwick-based MKM Building Supplies are currently running the Aid For Aidan appeal to overhaul the property that Aidan Jackowiak Smith’s parents recently purchased.
The three-year-old has Cloves Syndrome, suffering swelling to his face and body, and the home needs to be renovated to cater for his needs.
Thanks to a host of volunteers coming forward, huge progress has been made at the property, at Fire Station Cottages, Alnwick, since the campaign was launched in July.
From Monday, we need recruits to come forward to help with jobs such as filling in walls and applying emulsion and paint. Anyone who can help, call Paul Larkin at the Gazette on 01665 602234.
Work has also continued on the back garden, which is being dramatically transformed and is a far cry from the overgrown jungle which faced the family when they bought the property.
They have dreams of creating a haven for Aidan, including a sensory space.
Last Monday, Amble’s Muras Nicholson operated a digger which was provided by Alnwick contractor James McLean to help level the site.
A few days before, debris was cut up by a shredder from Alnwick-based Jewson.
