He grew up on Teesside, which is the inspiration for many of his novels, but the Rothbury resident has turned his attention to the rural villages and hills where he lives now for his new book.

It tells the story of John Tait, ‘who finds his wife and son missing when he returns from a business trip to his home in a peaceful Northumberland village. Anxiety turns to fear and dread when he receives a late-night phone call, one that reawakens memories of terrible events 10 years earlier in Slovakia and Ukraine. On a stormy November night, he sets out across the hills to find and save his family’.

The novel also involves a retired intelligence officer from Washington DC and leads to a deadly pursuit across the Northumbrian hills.
