Date unveiled for fitness-centre opening

The £550,000 transformation at Druridge Bay Community Centre, in Hadston, has seen the construction of a two-storey extension to create a community gym with state-of-the-art equipment on the ground floor and a first floor dedicated to the village’s thriving boxing club.

Meanwhile, youngsters have had their say on the sort of play equipment they would like to see at the proposed Hadston Community Park, which would amalgamate the village’s current play park and the former Druridge Bay Middle School site.

Youth groups and the wider community have also been consulted on the plans, which include an expanded children’s play area, skateboard facilities and wildlife habitats.
