A Northumberland student has made it through to the final shortlist of a prestigious scholarship offering the opportunity to visit Japan to study the country’s language, culture and tradition.
Daniel Patterson, 22, a former pupil of Duchess’s Community High School in Alnwick, was one of six young people interviewed on Monday for the 2015 Thomas Blake Glover Aberdeen Asset Scholarship, sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management.
The scholarship, which was initiated by the Japan Society of Scotland, enables one Scottish-resident student the chance to visit Japan to study the language, culture and tradition; an opportunity which has been described as life-changing.
Daniel is in his fourth year of an MA in philosophy and politics at Glasgow University.
The winner will be announced soon.
