The Newcastle-based Eliot Smith Dance Company will be performing original contemporary dance works as part of its spring tour.
And well as an appearance in Paris, the company will also be on stage at Warkworth Memorial Hall on Saturday, February 27, at 7.30pm.
The company said it remains dedicated to taking dance to parts of the region which would not normally access the arts, particularly in live performance.
Eliot Smith, its founder, choreographer and dancer, said: “Any venue is suitable for dance performance if the talent and spirit is present and if the audience is involved.”
The tour will feature SPACE, a new work created for the company by choreographer Maggie Boogaart.
SPACE explores the simultaneous simplicity and complexity of space and the intense movement-language formed through the translation of human emotions.
The tour includes a preview of Eliot Smith’s new short work, Joie de Vivre, dedicated to the people of Paris and stimulated by tragic events of 2015.
The company’s small group of talented dancers combining passion and athleticism have drawn considerable praise from audiences nationally and internationally.
