Cyclist suffers serious head and spine injuries after being knocked off his bike on Northumberland road

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries to his head and spine.

Northumbria Police received a report on Tuesday, April 14 that a cyclist had been knocked off his bicycle while travelling northbound on the B6295 - in between Allenheads and Sinderhope, Northumberland.

The victim – a 57-year-old man – was taken to hospital. The force is calling for witnesses to assist with the investigation.

Sergeant Matt Sykes, of the motor patrols department, said: “This was a serious incident which has left a man suffering with injuries to his head and spine.

“We have already spoken to a number of people but would urge anyone who has yet to come forward to do so.

“We would also like to hear from anybody who was in the area around that time and who might have dashcam footage.”
