Curtain up on village cinema

THE first film will be shown at a new cinema project in Whittingham next week.

On Thursday, September 1, Whittingham Memorial Institute will be transformed for the screening of The King’s Speech.

The Institute committee is working with Doorstep Pictures, Northumberland’s community cinema project, to develop film screenings as access to cinemas is difficult.

It is the first film to be shown in the Whittingham project, which will provide support to enable the local community to watch films only a few months after they have been shown at the multiplexes.

Showings are at 2pm and 7.30pm. Tickets £4, £2.50 under-16s.
