CROSSING: Safety hopes raised at last

At the February meeting of the parish council in Rothbury, it was mentioned that a highways engineer from Northumberland County Council had visited Rothbury recently to assess the feasibility of providing the town with a much-needed zebra crossing.

This is great news and I am very hopeful that the people of Rothbury will get this absolutely essential pedestrian crossing.

It will mean that, at long last, people will be able to cross, hopefully, from the Armstrong Cross to the shopping parade in relative safety, without having to continually be on their guard from fast-moving traffic on the main road and the High Street.
