Woman pays the price of no insurance

A BELFORD woman has been ordered to pay £245 after pleading guilty to driving offences.

Lynsey Rogerson, 36, of Dinningside, was arrested on warrant on Thursday, December 15 and brought before magistrates in Berwick.

She admitted obtaining a certificate of insurance by witholding information that she was not a licence holder and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

The court heard she was stopped by police on August 17 in the Windsor Gardens area of Alnwick, her former address.

John Brown, in defence, explained that the court summons was delivered to her old address so she was unaware of it.

He added: “In 2009 her marriage ended and she had to care for her two children.

“It was out of sheer desperation that she had to find transport and bought an old Vauxhall in December 2010. She did obtain insurance even though it was unlawfully obtained.”

Rogerson was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
