Northumbria Police, the police helicopter and the Coastguard were all involved in a search for a woman last night.

Yesterday evening, the Gazette reported that Amble Coastguard and the police helicopter were involved in a search in north Northumberland.

The helicopter was seen flying over Foxton Golf Course between Boulmer and Alnmouth with its searchlight trained on fields and the coastline at about 10.15pm.

Today, a police spokeswoman confirmed that it was a hunt for a person and that the woman was found with no injuries.

She said: “At 9.20pm yesterday, police received a call in relation to concerns for a woman at Alnmouth Beach. Officers attended the scene to carry out a search of the beach assisted by the police helicopter. The Coastguard also assisted.

“Just before 10.20pm, the woman was found by police and taken to Wansbeck General Hospital for assessment.”
