Thief 'may have been almost hit by car' as he fled scene of Northumberland burglary

Police say a burglar narrowly avoided being hit by a car as he fled the scene of a break-in in Northumberland.

At 8.50pm on Sunday, February 16, Northumbria Police received a report of a burglary at an address in Brinkburn Crescent, Ashington.

It was reported two men had broken into the address, taken a number of items and then fled in the direction of Alexandra Road.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who saw two men acting suspiciously to get in touch.

Police believe one of the men may have almost been hit by a car as he ran from the address so are also appealing for any dashcam footage or drivers to come forward with any information.
