Police make drugs-related arrests in Ashington and seize motorcycles in Newbiggin

Police officers were joined by partners for a day of action in Ashington to tackle anti-social behaviour and retail crime.
Three warrants were carried out to kickstart the activity on Wednesday, with officers paying visits to properties on Rosalind Street, Sycamore Street, and Woodhorn Villas.

Hide AdA man aged 18 and a female aged 17 were both arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
Both have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Two motorcycles were also seized by officers in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea with Operation Capio – thanks to a drone assist from our colleagues with Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service – as part of an ongoing commitment to disrupting anti-social motorcycle use across the region.
Activity carried out through the day with community engagement events held at various locations throughout the town, with high-visibility patrols resulting in the arrest and a subsequent shoplifting charge for a 38-year-old man.

Hide AdMore than 50 speeding offences were detected by camera enforcement vans placed in speeding hotspots, while 20 vehicles were examined in partnership with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.
Inspector Wayne Daniels, of Northumbria Police, said: “Operation Impact provides the perfect platform to display our partnership approaches to combating the issues which matter most to our communities.
“We are committed to listening to and acting upon these concerns - whether it is drug dealing, motorcycle disorder or anti-social behaviour.
“This rolling operation builds upon the extensive work we see every day from our officers, partners and volunteers.
