Plea for witnesses after man suffers fractured ribs in alleged Boxing Day attack

A group of men left a 40-year-old victim with a fractured knee, fractured rib and facial injuries after an alleged assault on Boxing Day, police have said.

Northumbria Police has launched an investigation into the alleged attack, which happened between 10pm and 10.30pm on Thursday, December 26.

The force said a 40-year-old man was approached on Albion Terrace, Lynemouth, Northumberland, by a number of other men who then carried out an assault.

The victim suffered serious injuries including a fractured knee, fractured ribs and facial injuries and was taken to hospital.

Officers have now appealed for witnesses to come forward as part of their inquiries.

Detectives are keen to speak to anybody who was in the area at the time who witnessed the disturbance.
