Northumbria Police has praised residents in a Northumberland town after executing a warrant on suspicion of drug offences.

Following concerns about drug dealing, officers executed a search warrant at a property in Ashington on Monday, April 27.

Officers paid an early visit to a house in Maple Street and seized a quantity of cannabis.

The 21-year-old resident was interviewed under caution and reported for drug related offences.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Peter Mcall praised residents and said: "I want to thank the local community, as we were able to secure a warrant on the property because of information we received from the public.

“We hope this activity reassures the community and shows we will respond robustly when you tell us about suspected criminal activity."

Anyone with information about suspected drug dealing is asked to contact police via our website or report it anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
