Man appears in court charged with attempted murder over alleged Boxing Day meat cleaver attack on council worker

Northumbria Police charged 27-year-old Bradley Fenwick, of Brook Court in Bedlington, with attempted murder just days after an attack on Boxing Day in Alnwick.

Emergency services attended the property and the council employee was taken to hospital with significant injuries to his hands.

It is understood that he had been boarding up a window at the property after a bottle had been thrown through the glass earlier that day.

As he was working, a man approached him and attacked him with what is believed to have been a meat cleaver.

Fenwick appeared at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court on December 29, and the case was adjourned to Newcastle Crown Court on January 25.

Magistrates remanded Fenwick in custody until his next hearing.
