A STRING of bike thefts took place in Amble over the weekend.
Between 11am on Sunday, July 10 and 9am on Monday, July 11, a shed was broken into in Priory Park in the town.
Two bikes – a pink child’s BMX and a Shogun cross-country aluminium bike – were taken.
Also over the weekend, a silver Raleigh was taken from under a caravan at the Amble Links caravan park.
Alnwick Neighbourhood Police Inspector Sue Peart said: “Thieves are stealing bikes as they are relatively quick crimes to commit, especially if the bikes have been left insecure and out on show.
“I’d like to remind people just how important it is to ensure your bike is secure at all times.
“This includes not only keeping it hidden away out of sight but if it is kept in an outhouse or shed then use a lock to secure your bike to something immovable or heavy inside to make it harder for thieves to steal it.
“This way, it’s making it more difficult for opportunist thieves and burglars to take advantage.”
