Legendary English cricketer and TV pundit Sir Ian Botham will be the special guest as an official opening is held for a refurbished fishing store in Alnwick.

As previously reported by the Gazette, Pure Fishing, which bought the Hardy and Greys brands in 2013, has invested heavily in a full refurbishment of its retail store, The Compleat Angler.

It is holding two open days next week – Friday, July 1, and Saturday, July 2, from 9am to 5pm – to showcase the recent changes to the general public.

And late morning on the Friday, the fishing-tackle store will be opened by Sir Ian Botham.

Get Hooked on Fishing will be in attendance on both days, offering activities for kids, and there will be a chance to win £2,000 of fishing tackle.

There will be fly-casting tuition, demonstrations and competitions; a free Hardy reel repair clinic; factory tours; exclusive offers; and food and drink.
