Coun Rosanna Reid should not take it for granted that local residents will object to a crematorium, though some may.

My property overlooks the cemetery and school and I, like Coun Kevan Curry, support the crematorium option.

To me, the employment opportunities and the possible increased use of local hospitality facilities are important points.

At present, some North Northumberland cremations take place at Melrose, but should Scotland ever become independent this option would be more complicated, with border controls in place.

North Northumberland should have it’s own crematorium and I think the old Wooler First School site is an ideal place for it.
