On May 5, Travelsure buses took members of Craster WI to Belsay and on to Kirkharle.

In Belsay the group had lunch and looked around the gift shop. The hall was explored, and then we walked to quarry gardens. Four members walked to the tower.

The bus then continued to Kirkharle.

Those who were there look forward to another visit.

On June 2, in the Memorial Hall, Jerusalem was sung, followed by a minute’s silence in memory of Joyce Shaw, who had been a member of the WI for 40 years.

Birthdays were M Gallon, A Mallen and M Hewitson. The competition winners were: 1 N Grey, 2 P Brown, 3 T Flegg.

The judging was by Lizzy Harratt, who was our demonstrator of flowers. Lizzy’s theme was Summer Time.

The first arrangement was winter, spring and summer and autumn.

Lizzy’s expertise was evident as she arranged flower and foliage in one hand, put ribbon round, then cellophane to finish off.

Mrs P Jones gave the vote of thanks.

Supper was served. As usual there was a selection of savouries and sweet to choose from.
