Twenty members of Craster WI met at Craster Memorial Hall for their July meeting.
After dealing with correspondence and other business, our speakers were introduced.
We had invited two authors, Anne Ousby and Erica Yeoman, to tell us about writing their novels.
Anne now writes contemporary and science-fiction subjects. In the past she has written plays, one being televised and one for the radio.
Erica’s books are set in the past. She likes to research names and events from history and weave a story around them.
Both ladies had different ways of working.
They then set us to work by reading us some short Japanese verses called Haiku and asking us all to write something similar. Great fun.
Supper was served. The birthday flowers went to Sybil Dawson and Muriel Silk.
The raffle was won by H Lee; 2 M Soden-Bird; 3 M Hewitson.
Some books were bought and signed. It was a very iteresting informal evening, enjoyed by everyone.
