Couple win a winter wonderland wedding in Alnwick

Matthew Joyce and Santana Swanston were delighted to win a competition at a glittering occasion last week in what has been an exciting year for them.

The event was a culmination of a Win a Winter Wonderland Wedding Reception contest, which the Plough ran online.

The Coach House transformed into a Winter Wonderland.

Couples who entered were invited to the hotel last week for the prize draw. The Coach House, formerly called the B-Lounge, was decked out in a Winter Wonderland theme, as it will be from November 26 to January 6, 2018, for weddings and Christmas events.

The winner of the wedding reception, including a drinks package and three-course wedding breakfast for 50 guests, was Dawn Swanston, from Gosforth, who entered for her daughter Santana.

She said: “It’s been an exciting year and what a great finish to it. I have gone back to college, we have got a new house, we are delighted to be expecting a baby and now this – brilliant!”

Joanne Dwyer, owner of the Plough, was also pleased after most of the people who turned up for the prize-giving were so impressed that they also booked their wedding reception.

The hotel is having a wedding open day on Sunday, October 15, when prospective brides and grooms will be able see the venue and meet local suppliers.
