A couple are on their way to a dream wedding – thanks to the luck of the draw.
Matthew Frater and Annabel Garven, of Boulmer, won first prize in a charity raffle organised by Berwick-based Olympus Marquees.
The couple, who are due to tie the knot in May, won an Aphrodite wedding marquee package for their big day in the raffle held in aid of the Berwick and District Cancer Support Group, which transports cancer patients to hospital appointments, up to as far as 60 miles away.
The group runs completely on a voluntary and donation basis so fund-raising is vital.
Matthew said: “We are completely over the moon to have won the marquee package – and quite honestly cannot believe it! We had already decided we were going to get our marquee from the Olympus team, as from the moment we asked for a quote, right through to them coming to see the site here at Boulmer, their attention to detail, simplicity of the quote and friendliness really won Annabel and I over.”
There is a long history of marquees in Berwick, beginning as sail makers in the 1790s with the Leith family and continuing, since 2008, with Olympus Marquees Ltd.
Joanne Cox, of Olympus Marquees, said: “As a company we really wanted to give something back to our local community, and could think of no better way than to raise money for this charity which is close to many people’s hearts in the Berwick area. We were delighted that Currys PC World in Berwick was also happy to donate a couple of prizes for the prize fund pot.”
