CORRECTION: It's time to build bridges

I would like to draw readers' attention to an error in my transcription of the Bishop of Newcastle's letter about the recent European referendum vote, (Northumberland Gazette, June 30).

The second sentence should have read as follows:

“Whichever way the vote had gone, it always had the potential to be divisive as it was clear that there would be no overwhelming majority on one side of the debate or the other.”

Now, a week later, it seems as though the final two sentences of her letter are very much worth another second reading.

They read: “The task is now for us to unite, to build a generous, outward-looking, and welcoming country.

“The call is to build bridges not divisions.”
