Conservation area status for Beadnell delayed

North of England Civic Trust was commissioned by the Northumberland Coast AONB Partnership, on behalf of Northumberland County Council, to assess the village for potential inclusion.

“There has been a delay,” revealed Coun Alison Nation, chair of Beadnell Parish Council, shortly before Christmas. “We had been expecting it to have gone through by this time last year but there has been a change in the people looking after it.

“Sarah Winlow from the AONB is taking it over and the draft will be considered in February by the Northumberland County Council cabinet and committee.”

The preferred option is to include the village core., including the approach from the west along Swinhoe Road and the connection to the shore, where early fishing took place at the Haven. It also takes in Victorian and early 20th century development on both of those spines.
