Concerns over speeding traffic on iconic Alnwick bridge

The issue was raised by Mayor Lynda Wearn on behalf of a concerned local resident at a meeting of Alnwick Town Council.

“The speed of cars coming from the north across the Lion Bridge is a concern,” said Coun Wearn. “It’s a very narrow road and often you have people there taking photographs of the castle.

“It’s something I had noticed myself but a resident also brought it to my attention and suggested the 30mph signs could be moved from The Peth on to the north side of the bridge.”

Coun Robbie Moore, local county councillor, said he would take the matter up with the county council.
