Self-catering properties have been especially hit, with the average increase for holiday lettings in the North East at 112.2 per cent.

The reasons given seem to be that, because of limited supply and increased occupancy, operators have been able to significantly increase the rates they charge.

NT is working with the Professional Association of Self-Catering to challenge this assumption. Call 01670 794520 if you’re affected.
