Community in Amble clean-up

A COMMUNITY tidy-up in Amble takes place on Tuesday and residents are being urged to attend.

The event starts at 6pm in the Town Square and a number of incentives are being put in place for those who take part and return with bags of rubbish.

These include 25 per cent off a single transaction at The Farm Shop Bakery and 20 per cent off a lesson with Amble-based Northside Surf.

Litter-pickers will also be entered into a series of draws to win prizes such as a £10 voucher for DVD rental at 21st Century Movies, free fish and chips for four at the town’s Harbour Fish Bar and the chance to bag one of 11 pairs of tickets for the sold-out Olympic Torch Relay celebration in Alnwick on June 14.

Northumberland County Council has offered to provide equipment, such as bags and litter-picks.

Clerk of Amble Town Council, Elaine Brown, said it would be helpful if people could let her know in advance if they are attending the event, by calling her on 01665 714695 or emailing People can still turn up on the day, however.
