Alnwick Markets and the Chamber of Trade have successfully bid to the Community Chest for funds to make the 2015 Christmas Fair a two-day affair in the town.
As part of this extended event, which takes place in the Market Place and the Northumberland Hall on Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6, Alnwick Markets is able to offer a limited number of tables to voluntary and community groups wishing to have a fund-raising stall.
Dawn Watts, who is manager for Alnwick Markets, told the Gazette: “We have secured funding for more publicity and more music and entertainment at this year’s two-day market.
“There are always plenty of people who come to the Christmas Fair to enjoy the music and atmosphere and to look for great gift ideas in a festive family atmosphere.
“This year, we will be extending the market into the Northumberland Hall where we will be serving refreshments.
“We will have a programme of live music performed by local groups which will be relayed into the Market Place.
“The Christmas Fair is a great opportunity for local voluntary and community groups to get involved and have a fund-raising stall.
“We are pleased to have on offer a limited number of community tables in the Northumberland Hall at just £10 per table per day. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis.”
