Community champions from north Northumberland have been honoured at a prestigious ceremony hosted by Newcastle Building Society (NBS).
The awards recognise and celebrate all ages within the Alnwick community, as part of a ceremony dedicated to the area.
The award scheme is a celebration from NBS of those communities in which it operates in recognition of people doing something outstanding within their local areas.
The People’s Choice Award was taken by Helen Edes, a stalwart of the community in Rothbury, who has devoted most of her life to voluntary work in the Coquet Valley.
Alnwick’s Gallery Youth Project was the winner of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation Team Award for the wide range of services it provides to young people in the area.
Ross Moore, Danny Sinton, and Gareth Davies, from Belford, jointly won the Young Person’s Award after they rescued 76-year-old Les Jobson when he fell into a stream on New Year’s Eve. Their quick thinking probably saved his life.
The Business Award was taken by Local Living, a social enterprise that runs Alnwick markets.
And Alnwick Amateur Boxing Club were winners of the Branch Award .
The awards were judged by NBS employees and each winner received a trophy and £200 prize money.
