Community choir is back by huge demand
After its success performing in north Northumberland last year a community choir will be back again this weekend.
Weighton Waytes is a well-established, mixed voice, community choir based in the East Riding town of Market Weighton, which is situated at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds.
They singers will be performing at Norham Church on Saturday.
Currently the choir has more than 50 members and sings in four-part harmony. Members come from all walks of life, are of all age ranges, have a love of singing and look to perform a wide range of music for the pleasure of others.
The choir is returning with some of its own accompanying musicians to perform what will be a lively mixture of secular and sacred music.
The Rev Rob Kelsey, Vicar of Norham, said: “The Weighton Waytes first came to Norham Church last year, when the mixture of enthusiastic singing and good-humoured banter were very well received.
“In fact, both the audience and the performers enjoyed the concert so much that, even as they were leaving, audience members were asking for a return booking, and the Weighton Waytes were saying that they’d like to come again.”
Tickets are £5 available on the door, under 16s free.
