Coastguard and lifeboat called out to 'body in the sea' off Northumberland
Seahouses Coastguard team was paged this afternoon after reports were received of a body in the sea.
After the initial call-out at 5.20pm, Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat was then launched to investigate and identified the 'body' as a tree floating in the water.
The tree was brought ashore to avoid any further false alarms with good intent.
A spokesman for Northumberland Coastguard said: "It is always better to be safe than sorry, so if you see anything you can't identify in the water dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
