It was made by milliner Margaret Woodliff Wright, above left, from Doxford.

The spectrum blue felt hat features an Alnwick blue and gold trim, with enamel lion detail, named headband and was specially signed for Dennis by Scotland rugby hero Gavin Hastings, pictured above right.

The hat was commissioned after Margaret made a previous trilby which sold at auction at Alnwick Rugby Club earlier this month.

It was bought for £240, with the proceeds going towards funding the club’s U9s’ rugby tour to Yorkshire in May.
