Club steps into fund-raising
The new Rotary Interact Club at the Duchess's Community High School, Alnwick, has burst onto the fund-raising scene.
Members and President Edris Ramezanpour, and Jamie Macauley, leader of the DCHS Ceilidh Band, arranged a ceilidh and raffle that raised £500 for the Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of student Kieran Wood, who passed away in February.
Interact is part of Rotary and caters for youngsters aged 12 to 18 as a progression from the well established RotaKids.
Elaine Smith, Alnwick Rotary member and Rotary district youth co-ordinator works extremely hard developing the clubs, which are charged each year to carry out two events to the benefit of either their school or community, and also one that promotes international understanding.
