Club is set to launch new skiff at harbour
Craster Community Rowing Club will be launching its St Ayles Skiff on Sunday.
The vessel, built by people from Craster and surrounding areas, will be named after the village’s pub, The Jolly Fisherman.
The boat will be launched in Craster harbour at 2.30pm.
The skiff, which seats four rowers plus a cox, will be used for regular rowing sessions from the harbour on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm and Sundays from 9am.
Membership is open to adults and costs £20 per rower and £10 for a social member.
Funding and donations to build the boat has come from Craster Parish Council; Northumberland Community Chest; Craster Community Trust; Coastal Cottages; Sykes Cottages; MKM Building Supplies; Washington Components Ltd; Washington Metal Works Ltd; and The Jolly Fisherman public house.
The aim is that the skiff and the rowing club will become assets to the area and help to promote health, wellbeing and good community values.
