Club members come together for a party

Alnwick Inner Wheel Club celebrated its 68th birthday with lunch at The White Swan Hotel. Members of Rotary invited Inner Wheel to join them and Happy Birthday was sung to Colin Bradford's accordion. Inner Wheel member Jennifer Gascoigne lit the friendship candles and Rotary president Bryan Ellis presented Inner Wheel president Margaret Moore with flowers.

The Rotary Club took the opportunity to award a Paul Harris Fellowship to Lilian Stokoe for her exceptional commitment to the community of Alnwick with her voluntary work for the Stroke Club, Age UK and various other activities in the town. This is the highest award Rotary can bestow worldwide and Inner Wheel is proud to have one of their members receive this special honour from Rotary.

Everyone enjoyed a piece of birthday cake and all the ladies were presented with a spray of snowdrops. This has been an ongoing tradition since the club was inaugurated 68 years ago when the mother of Rotarian Cliff Pettit became the first president of the Inner Wheel Club of Alnwick.
