Claire taking on marathon trek
Etal woman Claire Joicey is taking her love of walking to a new extreme next month.
The 22-year-old is taking on the 1,000-mile walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
Claire, a freelance cook, sets off on March 1 and aims to complete the challenge in 50 days to raise money for Beat, the eating disorder charity, as well as the RSPCA.

Hide Ad“I do a lot of long-distance walking, as and when I can,” said Claire. “I’ve done a variety of long-distance footpaths in the UK and, for the past two years, I’ve done 400-mile challenges in Ireland. Nothing quite like this though!
“It’s definitely going to be a challenge of a lifetime, but I’m determined to just put my head down and do it and raise awareness for these two causes.”
