The induction of Rev David Herbert as Moderator of the Northern Synod took place last week at St James’ United Reformed Church in Newcastle.
He is pictured, centre, with Rev Peter Rand and Alan Yates, the Moderator of General Assembly.
Many came along to say their fond farewells and present gifts to Rev Herbert at the Ferguson Hall in Belford on Sunday, as he leaves his ministry with the North Northumberland Mission Partnership to take up his new post. He has been in the North East and Northern Synod since 1988.
The nominating group charged with finding a new moderator for the Northern Synod was impressed by Rev Herbert’s long and varied experience in the URC, by the ways that he has grown and learned through contact with the world church, by the high quality of his application papers and references, and by his thoughtful, committed and caring approach to ministry.
