Christmas lights switched on in Seghill

There was plenty of Christmas joy as the lights in Seaton Valley were switched on.

A fantastic turnout saw the Christmas lights switched on in Seghill, at the Blake Arms car park.

Residents were entertained by live music from the Chillingham Road Band, a magician and carol singing, with free hot roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and mince pies on offer.

Children from Seghill First School had entered the annual competition to design a Christmas Light, run by Seaton Valley Council.

This year’s winner was Poppy Wood, who was joined by runners-up Daniel Hall and Kayden Ruler in switching on the Christmas tree and village lights.

Events are also being held in Seaton Sluice, Seaton Delaval, Holywell and New Hartley.
