Cheviot challenge for liver disease

A team of youngsters who play for Alnwick Rugby Club’s Under 11s are taking on a charity challenge this weekend.

The group will be climbing the Cheviot, the highest point in Northumberland, in aid of the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, on Sunday.

The charity is a cause close to the team’s hearts as the event has been inspired by one of the team’s brothers.

Seven-year-old William Sykes is currently undergoing treatment, on a long-term basis, at Leeds General Infirmary, the nearest referral unit for children in the North East.

His brother Daniel is in the Under 11s team and will be taking part in the walk.
