PREPARATIONS are well underway for the second Alnmouth Beer Festival.
The three-day event is sure to tickle the taste buds with 30 beers and ciders from across Britain on offer.
It is also raising money for the Shine the Light on Aniridia campaign in aid of Moorfields Eye Hospital.
The festival takes place in the village’s Red Lion Inn, from Friday, October 7 to Sunday, October 9, and comes on the back of last year’s successful debut event.
Organiser Michael Graham said: “The reason we decided to do the beer festival is because we are a real ale pub so it seemed an obvious way for us to raise money for charity.
“Last year’s event went really well and we raised a total of £2,000 for Help For Heroes and Moorfields Eye Hospital, but we are hoping to improve this year and raise even more money for charity.”
Festival-goers will raise a glass to the range of drinks that will be available.
The cider will be supplied by Scottish-based Thistly Cross while beers will come from regional breweries including Allendale, Hadrian and Border, Wylam, Roosters and the Tempest Brewing Company, as well as guest beers from further afield.
“A couple of the breweries have given us newly-released beers,” added Michael.
On the Saturday night, there will be live music from Amble band The Range and an auction.
Entry is £5, which includes a commemorative glass, a programme and the first two drinks. It runs from 4pm to 11pm on the Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday and noon to 10pm on Sunday.
